THE JOY OF BEING A PARENT
Being a parent, is a tough job, raising children with different kinds of
character and attitudes is not easy, but despite of that , experiencing joy and happiness by just looking at them,
seeing them grow into a well discipline and loving children will make us a
proud parents.
My husband and I got three
children, ages 26 years old, 22 years old and 19 years old. When they were small, we see to it that they
will grow to be a good citizen of our country, God fearing children, and
intellectually equip. We nurture and
teach them good values that they will carry on through their lives. They
attended good school because we believed that quality education is the best we
can give to our children. We see to it that we are hands on parents, by assisting
them whatever they need physically, financially, emotionally as well as
spiritually.
Their journey from childhood to
adulthood is not that easy for all of us. There are times that we will
experience hardship in raising them, we just pray to GOD to give us patience,
strength and which are quite normal, because there is a
saying that “without sufferings you will not attain glory”. And that is true, because my husband and I are
the living image to prove that.
As parents we should trust,
understand, be supportive and love our
children. Trust is very important in every relationship, without trust it will
lead to arguments and misunderstanding, it is normal for our children to
explore things that are new to them, but armed with the values that we
inflected on them, we are sure that they will manage their lives beautifully.
Understanding them leads to a healthy and smooth relationship between parents
and children, if they have a problem they will easily approach us and will
easily open to us their sentiments. We
should also be supportive to whatever they wanted to do in their lives, as long
as we stand by them to let them know that we are always there for them. And the
most important is loving them unconditionally, we always believe that Love
directs our children to the right path.
Today, our eldest son is a licensed Architect and he was one of the
top 10 in the Architecture Board Examination,
how happy we are when we received the news, words are not enough to
thank God for the gift He gave us and thanking all the persons that motivate
him to be what he is now.
Our second son is also a good child, he is also an achiever like his
brother, and very focus on his studies
because we constantly remind him that education is the only treasure we can
give to him. And our youngest child, our only daughter is again an achiever
also, when she graduated with honors in high school, awarded a prestigious
award which seldom awarded by the school to their students, we are so proud on
that day.
Raising good children depends on what kind of parent you are, and when
you do it right, what a happy and wonderful feeling.
